Endegeest Castle
![]() |
Endegeest castle is a fine example of a dutch 17th century nobleman's house. It lies just outside Leiden. The present house was built on the place of an earlier castle that was destroyed. With it's beautifully intact baily and two towers, it is a very charming complex. René Descartes, the famous philosopher lived several years in this castle. At present, the castle grounds are used by a clinic for mentally ill patients. The castle served as administrative centre. In the near future, it will get a different function. More elaborate text will follow later. |
